Resources for Texas Educators

The first-ever High School Educators Retreat, sponsored by the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors and the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science, was scheduled for June 10-13, 2007 at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. This land surveying seminar was designed to assist teachers to cover topics required in the Texas Essential of Knowledge and Skills TEKS and Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) exam.

Plans are already in the works for the 2008 Retreat, so mark you calendars now! This experience will have educators, like you, spending three educational and fun-filled days in the summer learning about the many facets of surveying in the state of Texas. In addition, it will provide knowledge pertaining to the great career opportunities to present to your students. Helpful teaching and career-plan materials will be made available for you to pass along to your students.

Other information and resources can be accessed now. Take a moment to review some of these land surveying/GIS/mapping education resources and realize the tremendous opportunities for your students who choose a land surveying career path!
